Larry Siegel—Founder of Tobay Capital

Larry Siegel has been active in energy and structured finance for 25 years. His experience includes institutional investing, commercial banking, project development and financial advisory services. In the power segment, he has been responsible for over $1 billion in financings domestically and internationally. These projects range from conventional technologies to renewable energy projects and employ a wide range of financing techniques including project finance, leverage finance, structured debt, leasing, tax equity and straight and structured equity.

Larry's experience with energy and tax based transactions, of the type common today, began in the 1980's while working at Prudential Insurance's PruCapital and PruPower subsidiaries. Upon leaving Prudential Larry was an active player in the project finance market while employed at DG Bank (now DZ Bank). Larry was instrumental in building Con Edison's independent power portfolio at its Con Edison Development (CED) subsidiary. While at CED Larry also became active in finance for Con Ed's unregulated trading and retail divisions.

In 2006 Larry founded Tobay Capital, Inc. Tobay is a financial advisory firm focusing on assisting companies to raise and/or invest capital in energy projects, analyzing transactions, structuring loan and equity deals, performing risk analyses on investments and conducting economic and financial evaluations on business opportunities.

Larry’s current projects include advising the Department of Energy with processing and analyzing applications to their loan guarantee programs and showing renewable companies how to structure transactions to preserve tax and financial incentives for their clients.

Larry has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from SUNY Stony Brook and an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business.
